Journalists from RAI, Italy Interview ZQU for the Academic Research of Matteo Ricci

As this year happens to be the Sino – Italian Year and the 400^th anniversary of the death of  Matteo Ricci, Dulio Giammattia and Enrico Bellano, journalists from RAI, Italy (the National TV & Broadcasting Company Ltd. of Italy) was dispatched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italy and came to Zhaoqing University to interview the academic research of Matteo Ricci.

Teacher representatives of ZQU introduced the fields and outcomes of their respective research. In their opinion, Metteo Ricci, the first scholar from the west who made thorough studies of ancient Chinese books and records, had contributed significantly to the cultural exchange between the east and the west, which in particular reflected on the transmission of the western religion and philosophy to China. Meanwhile, as a bridge connecting China and Italy, Matteo Ricci greatly influenced western countries’ understanding towards eastern culture.
