On October 29, Wu Yechun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Vice President of the University who presided over the comprehensive administrative work, met with Romano Carancini, Mayor of Macerata, Italy and his delegation.
Heads of International, Zhaoqing Institute of Economics, Society, History and Culture, Academic Registration, S & T, School of Political & Legal Studies attended the meeting with officials from Zhaoqing Foreign Affairs Bureau accompanied.
The two sides exchanged views on the study of Ricci Matteo and the cooperation.
Wu Yechun welcomed the delegation. He briefed the University in terms of scale, discipline construction and teachers' strength. Professor Li Yuqin from School of Political & Legal Studies introduced how Matteo Ricci spread Chinese and Western culture, and shared with the delegation the 5th International Seminar on Matteo Ricci and Cultural Exchange between China and the West would be hosted next Nov at the University.
Carancini pointed out that the name "Matteo Ricci" symbolized the friendship between the two cities and the beginning of cooperation between universities. He hoped that universities could carry out specific cooperation and welcomed our students to Macerata University for exchange and study, so as to promote the exchange of talents between the two universities. The two sides discussed academic exchanges, mutual visits of teachers and educational cooperation, and representatives of the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation.
